Gazprom Neft says to launch Neptune, Triton fields in 2026–2028
MOSCOW/HOUSTON, Mar 13 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Gazprom Neft plans to launch oil production at the Neptune and Triton fields in the shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk in 2026–2028, according to Sergei Vakulenko, head of the company’s strategy and innovation department, and a statement of the company seen by PRIME on Wednesday.
Vakulenko told reporters on the sidelines of the CERA Week conference that the company’s new development strategy until 2030, to be published in one or two months, will focus on projects in the key regions. “The key regions include the Nadym-Pur-Tazovskaya zone, the Yamal Peninsula, Orenburg, the areas around Khantos, Eastern Siberia, and the promising Sakhalin Island,” he said.
Under the strategy, production at the new fields on the Sakhalin shelf will be launched until the end of 2020s, and it is to include different options for operations with natural gas and with renewable energy. “We are studying all possible options of monetization of gas, including the Novoportovskoye (field),” he said.
The company said in a statement it plans to launch production at the Neptune and Triton fields in 2026–2028.
The company discovered the Neptune field in 2017 and the Triton field in November 2018. Geological and recoverable reserves of oil of the Neptune field stand at 415 million tonnes of oil equivalent and 70 million tonnes, respectively, while the figures for the Triton field amount to 137 million tonnes of oil equivalent and 45 million tonnes.
Initially, Gazprom Neft scheduled the launch of production at the Neptune field for 2025.
